The OPENVERSE Observatory continues to evolve as Europe’s leading hub for Virtual World technologies with the launch of new community-driven features designed to strengthen collaboration across the XR and Virtual Worlds (XR/VW) ecosystem.
Whats New?
The Observatory has been upgraded with new interactive features designed to foster stronger engagement and collaboration across Europe’s immersive technology ecosystem. Users can now register directly on the platform and create personal profile on top of their initial company profiles to showcase their expertise, projects, and technological focus areas, enhancing their visibility within the community.
A new matchmaking function enables members to identify and connect with relevant peers, innovators, researchers, and organisations based on supply and demand across sectors and regions. Integrated direct messaging further facilitates direct communication and collaboration within the platform. These additions strengthen the Observatory’s existing searchable database of over 220 companies, national initiatives, and case studies, organised by technology focus — including AI, AR/VR, digital twins, blockchain, and quantum computing — as well as by sector and geography, while maintaining a low barrier to entry and supporting a truly pan-European community.
Sustainability and a pan-European approach
From a sustainability perspective, the Observatory has been strategically designed to deliver lasting value beyond its initial implementation phase. It aims to generate impact by increasing the visibility of XR and Virtual Worlds (VW) stakeholders and fostering collaboration across Europe. In terms of exploitation, it provides a structured environment where projects, organisations, and experts can showcase their results, expertise, and achievements. To ensure long-term sustainability, the Observatory is being developed as an attractive, practical, and user-friendly resource that remains relevant and functional after the project’s completion.
Additionally, the platform is designed to avoid duplication with existing external services while enabling integration, such as linking to LinkedIn profiles. Positioned as a pan-European umbrella platform, the Observatory is intended to complement—rather than compete with—local or thematic initiatives across the ecosystem.
