The objective of this workshop is to continue the definition of the OPENVERSE Technological Framework incorporating the vision of experts from the Computing and Connectivity building blocks of Virtual Worlds. Also, it will serve as a moment for the Virtual Worlds community to listen and participate in the conversation on these important building blocks for VWs.

For this workshop, OPENVERSE is calling on those stakeholders that have an expertise on computing and communications for Virtual Worlds, with a particular focus on HPC, Cloud, IoT, 5G-6G and computing continuum to share their inputs; in particular, European organisations on computing and connectivity, which have knowledge on Virtual Worlds and are working to bridge/could work bridging those themes and contribute to our technological framework.

Participants are selected after registration and kindly invited to join this workshop with the aim of:

  • Extending the structure and progress the OPENVERSE Technological Framework on the topic of Computing and Connectivity building blocks
  • Uncovering the potential of Computing and Connectivity as Virtual Worlds enablers, and what should be the interplay with these technologies
  • Understand and collect requirements of computing and networks with the other building blocks
  • Collect real cases and pilots on Virtual Worlds that stress and show the capacity and limitations of connectivity/computing building blocks

This workshop is part of a series which aims at analysing the different building blocks of Virtual Worlds, while promoting exchange among specialists from various sectors to comprehensively address the opportunities and difficulties posed by the Virtual worlds and facilitate alignment and implementation actions.

Introduction to the structure of the OPENVERSE Technological Framework – Focus on the Computing and Connectivity Building Blocks
11:35 – 12:25 Open discussion and collaborative session

With the help of collaboration tools, the participants will be engaged in discussions to suggest new key components of the building blocks, define dependencies and propose ideas or use cases.
12:25 – 12:30 Closing remarks
